A Photo A Day : I really need to improve my standard of photography - I guess that's the main reason why I am here. It's a huge commitment to capture a photo each and every day for a whole year. It worries me that my photographs won't meet the standard, my life is so boring that nobody will look, or I might be too busy or lazy to stick to the deal.
I often admire the albums from this group and wonder at their tenacity to produce an interesting photo daily. It's like peeking into their lives and their personalities - I am well aware I am leaving myself wide open by this commitment.
Enjoy

Fingal Head, New South Wales : The area was name after Fingal in Ireland because the basalt headland was thought to be similar to the Giants Causeway there. The traditional inhabitants of the area were the Minjungbal people who settled more or less permanently due to the plentiful supply of food and water.

Basilique du Sacré Coeur, Paris : On the 16th day Judy & I caught the train to Paris - we visited the Sacre Coeur the same afternoon.
The site of the 19th-century Roman Catholic basilica is traditionally associated with the beheading of the city's patron, Saint Denis, in the 3rd century. According to legend, after he was martyred, the bishop Denis picked up his severed head and carried it several miles to the north where the city of Saint Denis stands today.

Seen in the street : I love street photography, yet I do not have enough courage to blatantly take somebody else's photo without permission. Ask permission and the moment is lost. Consequently many lost opportunities have passed me by.
I don't know anybody in the photographs I add to this album. So far they have all been taken without the other person's knowledge.

Your Bio

What can I say ??

I'm a hard working Aussie Girl/Mother/Grandmother (though I don't feel it) who loves to take photos.
When I first left school I worked in a darkroom on one of those huge enlarging machines, developing & printing photos including those used in the local newspaper.
Unfortunately I didn't stay long - wandered off exploring other options, never pursuing my love for photography.
These days I work in accounting each day and wish I had focused on photography - but that's life and another story.
Now over 35 years later here I am .... trying to figure out how to take a decent photograph and enjoying every minute of it.

My daughter is also a SmugMugger - it is great to share a hobby with someone close to you - she understands when I get the urge to take photographs - which is almost every day.
